Traditional Incandescent
Traditional incandescent pool lights—incandescent rated at 300W to 500W (some older units push 500w) for halogen or PAR56 light bulbs—use 10 to 15 times as much electricity as comparable LED fixtures. A single 300-watt incandescent at 8 hours a night at $0.15/kWh costs about $131 a year in electricity. A 36W LED offers the same amount of light at a yearly cost of about $16 in electricity. A nicheless pool light design for retrofit applications — installs directly onto existing pool surfaces with no need to cut a niche into the wall (waterproof screws only). Slim at 50 mm thick, the fixtures sit flush to the wall surface. Procurement Tip: Transformer Sizing
In systems requiring multiple fixtures, the wattage of each fixture adds on to overall draw of the system when selecting the bottom rated low-voltage transformer size. An 8-fixture installation using 36W lights consumes 292W of power; an 8324/2006 can be installed to allow a 40-80% headroom margin in 6-fixture installation. An undersized transformer results in voltage collapse, dimming, and client complaints about LED driver life. We attach transformer recommendation to every project estimate.

Incandescent higher CRI
Incandescent lighting has a black body radiant spectrum, so its natural white light body has a CRI of 100. Guangqi LED lights produce white CRI >80 light in dry-to-cool white ( K) mode, which gives underwater imagery equivalency to incandescent lighting in terms of color depiction quality. This is more than adequate for real-time color swim analysis, as moisture in underwater instrumentation belays any inaccuracy caused by CRI <100 lighting effects by the physical human eye.

Procurement Note: Multi-Light Synchronization
For large installations with more than 4 fixtures, RF remote control may be ineffective due to interference with multiple controllers – color mismatch errors occur. For any commercial project we advise DMX512 protocol. DMX512 provides 512 channels of diumal addressability on one data line, for perfect timing of color and brightness sequencing on every fixture.

IP68 Testing Protocol
IP68 is the IEC 60529 maximum ingress protection spec. “6” means total dust exclusion after 8 hours in a test chamber. “8” means continuous submersion capability beyond 1 meter depth. Every batch undergoes an independent test of 1.5 meters water submersion for 72 hours with a dielectric strength test of the LED driver to verify 0% moisture ingress in the LED driver cavity. Our housing seal uses a triple-layer approach: silicone face ring gasket between stainless steel face and glass lens, waterproof cable gland, epoxy potting of LED driver board.
For pools with salt water circ water chlorinators, we advise 316 stainless steel. Standard 304 stainless steel can be used in chlorinated fresh water pools, but accelerated pitting corrosion occurs with salt based chloride pools – 3,000-4,000 ppm NaCl at salt chlorinators.75 MS in 2%.

In reality, working lifespan is determined by 2 key factors – quality of thermal management and presence of reliable driver. Our epoxy-potted driver boards are capable of dissipating heat far more efficiently and effectively than the air-cavity design which is prevalent in most cheap pool lights, hence our lights continue to produce high lumen counts well into year 8, 10, 12 and beyond. One detail nearly every spec sheet overlooks- the driver board is the point of failure in any pool light, not the LED chips. Epoxypotting our driver in thermally-conductive encapsulant prevents the moisture ingress that kills air-cavity driver within just a few years of installation in a high-moisture environment such as a swimming pool.

Yes. Surface-mounted LED pool lights can simply be hooked directly to the swimming pool wall – no drilling, no draining. Guangqi’s GQ-ST series comes with waterproof screws for concrete, fibreglass, or vinyl lining pools. Do you already have the niche housing from the previous incandescent installed? Our inground LED fixtures fit exactly into those niches for the new world. The installation of most surface-mounted fixtures can be completed in less than 30 minutes per light, making this one of the simplest upgrades you can make to your pool. Even older pools built at the tail-end of the 20th century (in the 1990s and 2000s) with standard J-box niches can accept our LED replacements without any structural modification to the pool shell.
For your average residential size pool, between 800 and 1500 lumens of light per fixture provides sufficient illumination to swim by at night-time. Larger commercial pools and water features are generally lit at between 1500 and 3000 lumens per fixture to meet safety standards. As a general guide, a typical 15×30 ft residential pool will require 2 to 3 fixtures, depending on pool finish type, evenly placed along the long wall of the pool. Third of all, darker pool finishes (for example, blue, black pebble) will absorb a larger percentage of light emitted from the fixture; therefore, an additional fixture might be needed to provide the required mount of illumination.
Yes. Operating voltage is 12V or 24V – way below the 50V wet-environment hazard level limits defined IEC 60364. Safe.
IP68 is the highest ingress protection (IP) rating under IEC 60529. Dust-proof and submersible beyond 1 meter. We test at 1.5 meters for a full 72 hours – well above the minimum standard. Both the fixture body and cable entry gland are rated for this.
RGB pool lights fuse red, green and blue LED chips together to create colored lighting effects – Perfect for color shows and party atmosphere. RGBW adds a dedicated white LED chip which provides cleaner white lighting with (usually) 3000K-6500K CCT, without the slight color blend tint found in RGB white lighting. Choose RGBW if you want both dynamic color-changing effects and consistent white light at night. Choose RGB if most installations are for colorful water shows.
