Facade & Architectural Lighting — LED Solutions for Commercial Projects
Why Cookie-Cutter Floodlights Fail Modern Facades
Generic floodlights glare into the night sky, trip Title 24 BUG-rating thresholds at 6,200 lumens, and leave half the wall under-lit while the other half washes out. Architects specifying hospitality, retail, or landmark facades end up with fixtures that technically work but visibly underdeliver – and inspectors flag them on commissioning day.
Facade & architectural lighting is the disciplined alternative: fixtures designed around specific distribution types (narrow-beam grazing, wide-beam washing, asymmetric flood, pixel-level direct view), matched to the wall height, material reflectance, and code constraints you are actually designing for. That is what our six product lines do – and the rest of this page breaks down exactly how.
The chain most projects get wrong:
Pain
Architects report that 62% of commercial facade retrofits over-light the top third of a wall while under-lighting the base – because a single floodlight type was spec’d across mixed wall heights.
Cause
The root issue is beam distribution. A narrow-beam grazer delivers 4.6 footcandles on a 20-ft wall at 1.5-ft setback, but the same fixture at a 5-ft wall over-drives to 9.4 fc with a 6.1:1 max/min ratio – visibly uneven.
Solution
Wall grazing, wall washing, asymmetric flood, spot, linear, and direct-view pixel are six distinct techniques – and each of our six product lines is built for one of them, not retrofitted.
Proof
Our LED wall washer light ships with IES files that let your lighting designer verify illuminance uniformity before the PO, not after installation.
The Guangqi Architectural Lighting Fixtures Family — 6 Product Lines, One System
Six product lines cover the full distribution spectrum. Each card lists the technique it is built for, ingress rating, driver type, LED binning class, and the companion sub-page where spec sheets and IES files live.

Facade Lighting Decision Matrix — Which Product for Which Wall
Pick the row that matches your wall height and the effect you want. Product suggestions assume standard material reflectance; low-reflectance stone or dark cladding may need the next tier up in wattage.
| Wall Height | Effect Goal | Technique | Recommended Product | Typical Setback | Target Fc (LZ3 medium refl.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ≤5 ft | Even wash | Wide beam | Wall Washer (12W) | 1.5 ft | 0.4-3 fc |

| 15 ft | Uniform illumination | Wide wash | Wall Washer (24W) | 2.0 ft | 0.2-1.5 fc |
| 20 ft | Landmark grazing | Narrow graze | Linear (narrow 36W) | 1.5 ft | 0.4-3 fc |
| Entry / door | Wayfinding accent | Up / down | Outdoor Wall Light | — | Ground 4 fc · Vertical 2 fc |

| Curtain wall | Dynamic media | Direct view | Mesh Screen or Pixel | On-plane | Pixel-level control |
Wall Washing vs Wall Grazing vs Floodlighting — Which Technique, Which Product
Five techniques cover nearly every commercial facade: wall washing (uniform), wall grazing (texture), flood lighting (broad coverage), spot lighting (accent), and linear lighting along architectural edges or direct-view pixel for dynamic effects. Each has a measurable signature in setback distance, beam spread, and footcandle output. Picking the wrong technique is the single biggest reason a facade lighting installation looks amateur on opening night — and why led facade lighting often outperforms generic exterior lighting retrofits on the same building facade.

“It’s the one correction that makes most facade installs economical—beam selection. We drop 50W spot lights to 20W narrow-beam grazers on 10-12 ft walls all the time—same visual intensity to the pedestrian, 1/3 of the power bill, and the architect gets the texture they specified.”

What Actually Separates LED Manufacturers — And What to Demand in RFQ
True reliability, however, actually hinges on three low profile specs that consumers commonly ignore: driver quality (constant-current dims smoothly at low output; constant-voltage may power flicker at power down), LED binning (3-step MacAdam maintains color uniformity across neighboring fixtures; 7-step exhibits obvious color shifting), and thermal management (Ta number indicates whether the fixture can handle a Shanghai July or Dubai August). Commercial lighting discussions on Reddit consistently identify these three as the key premium vs. amateur hardware differentiators. All Guangqi product lines specify on the spec sheet driver type, binning class, and Ta number.
And on something often overlooked: USAI, a top US brand, gets 1-star Google reviews for early failures and slower-than-average customer service. Brand halo is NOT reliability. It is specs, warranty terms, and fast support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Interiors in Lighting Zone 3 (urban) with medium-reflectance facade/clip material should aim for target illuminance of 0.2-1.5 footcandles according to IES RP-43-22. Concourse transitions can be higher at 4 footcandles horizontally and 2 footcandles vertically. Use the headline photometric table and the quick-reference Title 24 figures above to approximate the requisite wattage.
Yes. CCT is field adjustable from 2700 K to 6500 K on all lines; tunable-white and RGBW options are available on linear and pixel products. Standard beam angles on spot and wall washer lines include 10, 15, 25, 45, and 90. Customer-specified CRI (80+, 90+, 95+ with R9>50) and binning class (3-step, 5-step MacAdam) is determined on a project-by-project basis.
Minimum order quantity scaled to product line and project scope; we recognize project-scale orders including refits. Sample orders accepted with sample cost rebated against subsequent PO. Lead time, Y/N, warranty depends on scope of customization (CCT, binning, finish, certification stack), and is stated at RFQ. We do not quote overly optimistic lead times that later slide. See the Procurement table for specifics.
All product lines support 0-10V dimming by default. DMX512 and DALI-2 support is available on wall washer, spot, linear, and pixel models. RDM remote management of DMX fixtures is supported by our system for fault diagnostics. Casambi and Bluetooth mesh control is supported on request.
Rated life is 50,000 hours to L70 (70% initial lumen maintenance). Warranty is 5 years from shipment date with no hour cap—a conscious departure from industry B2B terminology that void coverage after a certain number of operating hours or beginning the clock from purchase regardless of shelf time. Also includes driver, LED chip and housing; 7 and 10-year extended warranty options are available on project-scale orders.
Yes. We can provide Photometric IES files for all lines and options pre-PO; your design professional can run Dialux or AGi32 analysis to confirm uniformity and compliance. We provide installation drawings, wiring diagrams and remote commissioning support for your project. On project-scale orders, on-site commissioning support can be scheduled.
